The Project

Widening Horizons in Philosophical Theology is a five-year project to advance philosophical theology in the broadly continental tradition.

It is hosted by the School of Divinity of the University of St Andrews, and generously supported by the Templeton Religion Trust.

The planning phase, New Directions in Philosophical Theology, runs from September 2019 to August 2021.

The main phase, Widening Horizons in Philosophical Theology, runs from September 2021 to August 2024.

Call for Proposals:

Proposals are invited for research projects advancing the vision of Widening Horizons. These are expected to begin between 1 October 2021 and 1 March 2022, and run for up to two years. We are offering six large grants of up to £160,000, and six smaller grants of up to £60,000.
